Does anyone keep their TFs in the boxes? MISB?

I've seen a lot of pics on the web of collectors that keep their's in the boxes, but to me it seems a little silly. I mean it's a transformer; it ain't gunna transform in it's box.

Thoughts?

While I admire the keep-it-pristine-in-its box mentality, and understand the reasons and benefits for doing so, its just something I, personally, could never, ever, get with.

I like to have the TF figure in my hands, to transform it, to pose and display it.

Don't get me wrong, as Autoblokie can testify, I've kept all my boxes, and I'm really anal about keeping them as intact as poss when opening (blister cards drive me bonkers), but whats the point of owning these beautiful and amazing models if you can't appreciate them fully, and, I'm sorry, but you CAN'T appreciate them fully if they're left in their boxes.

I've got a foot in both sides of the treatment of TFs. I buy for myself, and those suckers come right out of the box, get transformed once or twice on rare inspecting occasion, then set up for display atop my bookshelves. I really need to work on that display though. Then there's the other side of me that makes TF purchases and sticks them away, never removed, waiting for the value to increase. All I have to do there is not get the itchy trigger finger than runs them to auction.

Most of mine have been deboxed. Like Cov, there are a handful I've kept in box "just in case." I have some MISB stuff in storage in the attic. But my personal collection is all loose.

Actually -- I prefer to buy complete/near mint loosies when I can find them just to save myself the trouble of wrestling with twist ties. Laughing

I HATE twisty-ties - GRAAAaaaAAAAaah!

Takara stuff is always so much more satisfyingly packaged, and, as a result, much easier to put back into the box for storage.

I've kept most of the reissue boxes, (the Takara ones are stunning). But that's it. There is no care taken when I open them. The way I see it, I have no plans to resell the things why keep them in boxes, or even keep the boxes.

Not sure if destrying boxes is a worshipful event, but ok.

I did take the Takara boxes and mounted them up on my wall. They look quite lovely as decorations. I did have to cut holes in them to pull it off, but "that's how I roll"

Not so much the bustin' up of the boxes but more the wilfull and wanton disregard to packaging and the straight-up knowledge that you wont be sellin' your TFs at any stage in the future.

I can get with that. Smile

Oh! You should see the pile of Classics packaging sitting on my floor right now, haven't gotten around to throwing it out yet. I suppose it's awe inspiring.

I usually save mine just for the fact that I like the box artwork. Don't really care about the inner packaging too much, but it is nice in case you got to move and pack up the stuff safely. Had to do that over the summer, and the boxes came in really handy. I have my alt., tfc, and some other misc. stuff in boxes. The domestic stuff (cybertron) is extremely hard to store, and has been trashed in most cases. The only sealed stuff I have are repaints, namely energon & cybertron galvatron....only sealed because I have the original open toys. So in most cases, I never leave my stuff in the packaging.
