I'm posting this because, well, every time I read an interview with Cullen I'm amazed. He is such a humble, patient, and understanding person. He is always polite and positive as well.
For all the things I don't like about the new movie, when the 2 hours are over, if nothing else, I'll be glad I paid (sorta) to hear Mr. Cullen once again voice the "greatest Autobot leader". It's fitting to think that such an iconic and ideal figure is voiced by such a decent human being.
Bravo Mr. Cullen! _________________ <center> <center><center>Have all my exorcists not yet availed To rid me of these ghostly plagues that make Life dreadful, if I sleep or if I wake ?<center> |

The man is a giant among men. I have nothing but respect of him. A true talent.
One of the very few things done right about this movie. And to think they wheren't going to use him. _________________ "The paltry armies of the universe are but play things to me."

Where did you get that from?
It was under debate because when you tell some random person who doesn't know or care about TF's that 'they're getting the original VA', the guy goes 'who? Well, ok then. Why not George Clooney?' or some other such thing. It was a simple matter of 'nobody cares but the die-hards who voices Prime' and what the die-hards want is not always the best thing (RE: Mass Shifting).
But they gave Cullen a fair chance, and he completely and totally blew away any compition. The instant his voice hit that mic, he was Prime.
Welker didn't blow away the compition as far as the producers were concerned, and thats why Weaving is Megatron. _________________

That sounds like bait to me.
But I think if there is one thing beyond designs that is recognizable about TF's it is the voice of Prime. If they were going to change everything but keep one constant it was Cullen. For the sake of nostalgia he is as important as any faction symbol or faceplate. _________________ <center> <center><center>Have all my exorcists not yet availed To rid me of these ghostly plagues that make Life dreadful, if I sleep or if I wake ?<center> |

Weaving's Megatron because he is a name. Anyway how could you know how Welker's performance was recieved? _________________ Masterpiece wishlist:

Wasn't it Don Murphy who pushed for Bay to get Cullen on board to voice Prime? I think Bay envisioned having known actors doing the major voices but was under pressure from the producers to get some nostalgia in there.
IMO, its crazy to get anyone other than Cullen to do Prime. Same goes for Megs (but we know where that went. ). Fans love it and anyone new to TF's would accept it because they're viewing it (& listening) for the first time. I can easily accept new voice talents taking over for the other characters. _________________ "The paltry armies of the universe are but play things to me."

Weaving is not a name. People don't have a clue as to who he is until you tell them rolls he's played. Tom Cruise and George Clonney are names.
Simple extrapolation of what I've seen and heard. I am of course, not definate, but I can pretty much say with confidence that it came down to the line on Weaving and Welker (because it took so long to decide between them), and that because Weaving won out, that means Welker did not.

Yes. A lot of stuido heads invisioned named actors in there. Don pushed for the originals, and due to his influence, the studio gave them both a fair chance. And thats why Cullen is Prime.

Megs sounds like an 80s cartoon villian. Listen to G1 seriously some time and then try to imagine Darth Vader or someone sounding like that. It won't work. I imagine Don fought long and hard over this, but I'd put money on that being the reason Weaving won out. _________________

He sounds like a 80's cartoon villian no more than Cullen sounding like a 80's cartoon hero. Now given Cullen's voice for Optimus was tweaked and sounds more deep for the movie, why can't the same be done for Welker?
Its like beating dead horse I know, I know. Just doesn't seem right thats all. Once the movies out and its finally viewed by all, I'll back to this debate. _________________ "The paltry armies of the universe are but play things to me."
