personally, I'd say they're on the right track... I'd also say "close, but no cigar."

Titanium isn't bad and there were a few die-cast figures that do transform. And as for the paint job done by kindergarten, practically anything coming out of China is done by little Chinese kids working in the companies factories. Rolling Eyes

Alternators just do the same old cars. It would have been nice to see some German cars like say Bimmers, but thats just me. And it would be awesome to see other things other than cars, like a contribution to Columbia space shuttle. Seeing Astrotrain as an exact replica of Columbia would have been so sweet. And Skywarp as a Nighthawk just awesome.

I have nothing bad to say about the Classics only that they weren't given the promotion they deserved. No ad what-so-ever. Then again All if not most Transformers toys aren't given that much attention when it comes to advertisement. Which is why Spider-Man toys sell more than Transformers. Promotions, Promotions and more promotions. Who knows with the up and coming movie these toys would be saved from being discontinued.

Speaking of the movie... personally the only toy worth buying would be Optimus Prime. He actually looks like a decent remake of OP, I'll just repaint him to get ride of the flame job that makes him look like a ricer.

As for the Hero cartoon... blah. Have seen the pics of CN version of a TF and more disappointment. Its too much like Osmosis Jones meets Disney Robots. Yuck! Even fans of the latest Tf series (Armada, Energon and Cybertron) would be disgusted by that animation. This would target the young but the young that will be attracted to it would be too young to get the toys. The show got to attract kids that are age appropriate to the toys that would be sold to them. In other words make the show more like Transformers and less like a Disney bs.

So yea Hasbro is trying out or play around with Transformers but they still haven't gotten the clue yet.

I'D SURE LIKE TO KNOW WHERE

That aside, I think Hasbros doing fine. They're in-between a major franchise shift - From Anime to Live Action to American Cartoon - and TF is more popular then its ever been before. TF won't tank any time soon, simply because Transforming robots have a natural appeal to little kids, even if they don't watch the cartoon/movie/whatever.

TF has never been in a place like this before. But one of Hasbros other massive brands, SW, has. They're trying to take TF from a Brand to a Flagship Brand, like SW. So I'd expect to see similar marketting techniques between the two. And seeing as how SW is still doing fine despite no more planned movies, I think TF will do ok.

Rejuvenate the Alternators line and enforce more classic Transformers design elements for the second live-action film, and they'll be on the right track. Oh, and firing Bay should be the first order of business.
