So do you think the fact that they chose "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." Is basically a big FU to all the people that submitted joke lines? Was it a wild card that they intended to use anyway but put it in just in case people did submit joke lines? Or did they just not care about the competiton to begin with?

Still, better than that barrel-roll nonsense, but I'm suprised they didn't go for one of the more original lines.

I like that one about not having enough pieces left of Megatron to make a handgun out of, or the one about learning from your own mistakes not ours.

My personal favourite was the handgun one, but that didn't evem make the finals. The whole thing was badly managed in my eyes, but it's over now and although the line was far from original at least it's good.

As W&R has been saying in the Barrel Roll thread, some people have started a 'Boycott Thread' over on the official boards. Taking it too far?

The barrel roll line will likely receive some prize for most humerous or some such nonsense. The winning line shouldn't be awarded a prize as it's copyrighted canon for Prime-speak and should have been taken into consideration for the script regardless. The whole contest was a clusterfrag to be honest. Joke lines winning, fantastic original lines done away with, submission/voting restrictions out the wazoo.

Basically; Whatever.

I'm just glad that "Do a barrel roll." was ejected altogether. Oh the gloriously hilarious postings of the YTMND people was quite a humorous thing today, which may be the reason why the messageboards are down.

Yes, most probably. I hope they eradicate all traces of those trolls. But I saved the deleted thread so I can look at it later and laugh.

I know that sounds a little hypocrytical of me, but I like to be able to reference things if they ever come back.

Well, there were several threads though. I loved the one by that one guy, what was his name? something-mmno. You know, the one where he stated he was boycotting the live action movie because the Barrel Roll line was not chosen.

What happened to the contest rule stating originality?

The contest was pointless from the get-go.
The movie people made sure they never had to keep whatever lines were voted for, and then they also added that they didn't even have to use any of the final ten if they didn't want to.
So, a competition where voting is moot in the end, and where the finalists didn't mean anything anyway as there could still maybe be no final winner picked from the last ten if the moviemakers didn't fancy it.
And the winner is a line with no originality whatsoever.

I see TFL finally got around to closing that boycott thread. Took their time over that, didn't they?
Still, I have to wonder why they didn't just delete the whole thing? Maybe they were afraid of another backlash after the other recent thread deletions.

As it stands, most of us don't even get the Barrel Roll thing, so it comes off as kinda wack.

Also their claims of boycotting to affect the sales don't impress me much either. Between giving us non-Transformers looking Transformers, a poor initial script, and having the UKs opening date weeks and weeks after the US, they've already shot themselves in the foot.
