Good to see the false advertising continuing with 'plated Prime. Everyone will get a shock when he spends 90% of his screentime looking like an ugly POS. I'll also say that Bumblebee looks very sinister there, more intimidating than Megatron even..just a horrible direction to take the character in. Megatron himself is total chromed shit, and the "eyebrows" make Prime's eyes look bizarre. Confused

How the hell is it false advertising, any more then showing Spiderman with his mask in all its promotional material? And where the hell are you getting this 90% number from? You're complaining just for the sake of it now. Rolling Eyes

Have you forgotten those suspicious "reviews" from the screening? (the details of which Orci said were accurate even if he was a plant). In those reviews it was stated that the vast majority of the time, Prime was plateless.

As for false advertising, that poster isn't how Optimus Prime will appear in the film for the most part, so yeah it's trying to tap into nostalgia by showing his battle mode, which he uses for a small amount of time.

I remember those reviews. I remember them saying Prime was plateless. I do not remember this 'vast majority of the time' bit.

I did not see Spider Man 3 (and don't intend to at this point). However, I understand that parker spent a lot of time without his mask too. False advertising?

Spider-Man 3 has advertising pics and posters of Peter without mask.

I have doubts any advertising of BayFormers will have Prime without the mouthplate.

Thie entire movie has been an exercise in Bait and Switch.

They promise you G1 and instead deliver "G-What?" They promise you "the transformers you remember" meanwhile the director, producer and executives ridicule anyone who even alludes to the original. They call them "concept images" up until the last second. They promise it won't be a human-fest and yet so far we've seen more humans than robots. The second trailer clearly shows Prime has a mouth.

Should we be surprised that the Prime on ALL the posters is not the one they intend to give you? "False advertising" is indeed the operative word.

If Bay was a car salesman we wouldn't be calling him the "director." We'd be calling him "the defendant!"

You know, it's a pretty ineffective Bait-And-Switch when they blatently show off EVERY SINGLE THING THE FANS OBJECT TO IN THE FREAKEN TRAILERS, Prime Mouth, overtly complex transformations, alien faces, spikes and teeth, Starscream, cometformers, lots of humans, Frenzy - heck, we even got a shot of what might be humans killing Blackout. I think that covers just about everything...

I was having lunch with my bosses (I have more than one.) and the topic of summer movies had come up. Both of them spoke of remembering TF's in the 80's and viewing the TRANSFORMER trailer for the first time before watching SHREK 3 with their kiddies. Well the kiddies where in awe of the trailer but they didn't know it was TF till they had seen the logo pop up at the end of it. When I mentioned the horrible design changes, they agreed and had said that they didn't recognize anything that they could remember of the beloved cartoon series. This is coming from people who are not really TF fans but know of it.

Whoever's bright idea it was to make him look like that should be fired. You don't need red eyes, sharp teeth, and long Edward Scissor type hands to let the audience in on who is the bad guy. If I had my way, you establish early on in the film who is evil by having him do bad things and then have a camera shot of the infamous Decepticon symbol. From there on each robot should have their allegiance symbol clearly visable in either of the robot forms to let people in on whos who.

Agreed, if they're so pleased and confident to remove it, why not plaster the image of him minus the 'plate on every poster? Relatedly, I just saw some hi-res images of Prime without the 'plate from the latest trailers...the Bay resemblance is even more pronounced now...what an egotistical dickhead!

It would be more intriguing to the uninitiated audience members if a Transformer that looks just as benevolent as say, Prime or Ironhide suddenly turns his weapons on civilians...it'd have you wondering each time a new one showed up whether they were good or bad, enabling the writing team to facilitate twists and shocks. I'm really let-down with the monster looks, very boring..

I totally get what your saying and that is a great idea! Kinda like when the martians first showed up in MARS ATTACKS and started wasting everyone.

Its too bad Bay insists on treating the audience like idiots and moving ahead with bug-faced teethed Decepticons. Will this be explained in the movie why they look they way they do? I'm guessing NO! They just do cause' they're evil STUPID Rolling Eyes .

It'd be more interesting, less "pop-corny" and I bet it'd stick with people if handled correctly.

BTW, looks like "unfriendly eyes" are watching us.. Laughing

I meant to mention this before. With all the amalmagated mishmash of metallic parts clumped together, and the disorganized monotone color scheme of everyone except Prime, it is IMPOSSIBLE to tell which end is up on any of the robots when they are in motion. It is impossible to tell what is going on during their fight scenes. What's a fist? What's a leg? Ironhide doing his twist and shoot -- I had to run it through Quicktime and pause to figure out which end is which. If anyone thinks that this type of incomprehensible squalor won't hurt the movie they're lying or crazy.

Without being political (I'm a registered Independent), I'm reminded of how Michael Steele (R) from Maryland was running for Senate in a mostly Democrat state. Steele had bumper stickers that said "Steele Democrat". He later said he wasn't trying to deceive anyone into thinking voting for him was vote for a Democrat ....he just mean it the way they mean "Reagan Republican". The movie posters are the same unscrupulous tactic. They tell us "We aren't trying to deceive anyone into thinking that Prime has a faceplate in the movie. We just want to show people that our Prime has many sides." But the only "side" they're showing you is the only side that everyone remembers and THINKS they will be getting and just like Steele, they hope you will not pay much attention as they deliver something totally different from what they know you expect.

First we got the Bait, now we get the Switch. Go to Yahoo Movies from TF and click on Photos. Several pictures of Prime there. ALL of them with the faceplate. You worked on a movie for 2 years with a design that has a mouth and yet you won't show it.

Can a movie that depends on blatant deceit succeed?

I do agree with you there, it's hard to make Ironhide out, he looks like he is made of black sludge. Megatron too in the new trailer when he lands next to the squishies, just appears to be a mass of blended metal worms. We haven't seen any melee action yet, imagine how bad that is going to look..

If only stable, clear vehicle parts had been preserved, you'd be able to tell who was who even from behind, or leaping about.

I know...pisses me off because they're so adamant the lips will work yet they won't show it on the advertising and merchandise. Chalk this up as another reason I won't pay to see Bay screw up something I have a strong affection for.

That scene from the trailer gets ravers wet. I can't stand it! Ironhide is one of the worst of the movie TFs out there. (I can't say he IS THE WORST cause theres so many to choose from.) Couldn't they have at the very least made him red? Maybe we'd make out his body parts more if he was.

It's awful.

People like to rag on Ironhide's G1 appearance "TV for a body" but Movie Ironhide's legs are just as bad, they look like they are made of crushed glass shards and don't match up with the heavy upper body at all. I mean, surely they could have made his legs look like the back of the truck? All they'd have to is slide the sides of the truck rear around to the front of his legs, and the rear wheels could then slide into the sides of the legs and he'd look much more like a Transformer.
