Count how many times Bay uses the word real (really) in one paragraph. Bay: real, reAL, REAL!
Really. _________________ "The paltry armies of the universe are but play things to me."

He's going to do the voice and I'm going to have another actor study the video when he does it the way he does, and they're actually going to have to work in tandem. They do this on animation pieces as well. Like, we did a very funny study where we did [Robert] De Niro and the bad guy from 'The Matrix,' Hugo Weaving, and we put our like Optimist Hugo next to De Niro. It's hysterical and it looks just like him. |
???
WTF does he mean about the Cullen face/voice thing?

Maybe something like this:

More than likely though it'll be the old-skool way of doing it and the animators will just watch video of someone reading the lines to get a movement guide to work from. _________________

I got that part, I was confused by this:

He's a voice actor with a great face, so another actor needs to be hired for the voice? Either the quote was mangled, or Michael Bay proved once again that he's terrible in interviews. _________________ <hr> | Michael Bay wrote: | | I had no idea Transformers would have so many fans around the world. |

Pardon my newb-ness,but I believe I might be able explain this.
I THINK what Michael Bay was talking about is this:
Let's say you're shooting a day with Optimus in one of the scenes. However since Peter Cullen is doing just the voice acting aspect and does all his work in the sound studio they didn't bring him on the set. So instead they have kind of like a "voice stand-in". In this case it seems like they got another actor to replicate Peter Cullen to get it as accurate as possible for the other actors (like Shia and Megan) to react to. If you watch the LOTR features you'll see they did that alot with the TreeBeard scenes.
Once agian, that's what I got from reading that section. I hope that helps. |
